SEISA Kokusai Obihiro e-Sports Seminar will lead the "TOKACHI e-sports Project" to promote e-sports in Tokachi, Hokkaido, and support the establishment of e-sports clubs at elementary, junior high and high schools.

On January 20, 2021, an online seminar was held by the "TOKACHI e-sports Project", organized by teachers and students of SEISA, under the title of "e-sports x Education - Seminar on e-Sports".

The seminar started with a talk from the standpoint of a teacher who interacts with students through e-sports, followed by a passionate exchange of words on "change" through e-sports, including a talk by a student her/himself on what s/he has actually learned and changed through e-sports.

Due to orthostatic dysregulation, the student was unable to go to school even though s/he wanted to, and felt guilty about playing video games, but after transferring to SEISA and taking the e-Sports seminar, s/he became more positive. There was also a report from a student who established a community called "Green Forest" to support truancy through e-Sports, hoping to push others to do the same.

SEISA has always questioned the notion of "must" in the sense of "must go to school" or "must attend classes". It is easy to set a framework and fit children into it. However, a school is not a school unless it is fun.

We believe that the first point of entry can be anything, and that it is okay to have a variety of approaches, whether it is e-sports, sports, manufacturing, or cooking. You go to school to do what you love, and the next thing you know, you're there, you've made friends, and you're attending classes. You realized that you were at school to do what you wanted to do. Such an order is what SEISA feel it is important and aims to provide.

It is well known from history that it is necessary to interact with people in order to live. There are many cases where people stop going out because they are afraid to get involved with people.

So, it's not enough to just say, "Face people because it is important!” is not a sufficient trigger. Let's get involved through something …? SEISA believes that the role of teachers and other adults is to deal with children in a firm and persistent manner, while considering various means and triggers to explore the clues of human relations.

SEISA will continue to place importance on "creating situations" and "environments" such as e-Sports under the theme of "overwhelming value of change rather than deviation.
