SEISA Kokusai Shonan Women's Basketball Team Participates in Kanto Tournament in 3rd Year

カテゴリー:SEISA NEWS(EN)

The SEISA Kokusai Shonan Women's Basketball Team competed in the Kanagawa Prefecture High School Spring Basketball Tournament on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, winning 73-63 against Yokosuka Otsu High School. The team qualified to participate the 75th Kanto High School Basketball Championship for the first time.

The SEISA Kokusai Shonan Women’s Basketball Team is in its third year of operation, and has already won the Inter-High School Qualifying Tournament, and is expected to compete in the national tournament. As a sports major, the team is facing a tough challenge of balancing basketball and study, as well as the unprecedented challenge of the COVID-19 disaster, but we are always looking forward and striving to make the team a bright and smiling one.

The captain of the team, who was a first year student player and the only third year student player, graduated the past spring and went to the university. We will continue to follow in the footsteps of our seniors, who started from scratch, and aim to become the best in the country and Japan. We hope you will continue to support us.

Below the comments from the 1st Team Captain

To my friends who have supported me

I would like to express my gratitude to all the people who have supported me over the past two years, my friends who have helped me through the years and my teachers who have always taken me seriously. Words cannot express how grateful I am.

The juniors in particular have spent a lot of time with us and have been through both hard times and fun times. I am very sorry that as captain I was not able to build a good foundation for the team and that I was not able to rely on them. I am very sorry that as captain I did not build a good foundation for the team and that I was not reliable. Thank you very much.

I'm proud to have transferred to a new school and met my friends

I am proud to have transferred to SEISA and to have met everyone. Now it is your turn. I hope you will take responsibility for your words and actions, and make your school a SEISA Women’s Basketball Club that you can be proud of.

I regret that I ended my high school basketball career with no sense of achievement as a player or captain. So this is my last request as captain. Please take care of your friends and do your best to play high school basketball with no regrets. I also hope that you will achieve your goal of playing in the national tournament, which has been our goal since the beginning of the team.

Fuuka SAITO, First Captain of the SEISA Kokusai Shonan Women's Basketball Club
