The "SDGs QUEST Mirai Koshien" was held in Kanagawa Prefecture as a competition for high school students to explore the SDGs and present their actions and ideas for solving social issues in order to think and act for a sustainable future for the earth. A total of 94 teams from high schools in Kanagawa Prefecture applied for the contest, and after a thorough screening process, a team of 2nd year Standard Course students from SEISA Gakuen High School Shonan was selected as one of the top 10 teams to participate in the final round.

The theme of inquiry was Goal 4 of the SDGs, "Quality Education for All. The idea they proposed was the Shonan School's original "SDGs English Karuta". The concept was to "learn while having fun and playing" even during the school holidays. While dealing with a wide range of simple and unfamiliar English words associated with the SDGs, the reading cards were designed to be easy for elementary school students to read by mixing Japanese and English.

In the final round, the students plan to introduce how the SDGs English Karuta it created is actually used with elementary school students to "have fun while learning.

Give shape to your ideas. And take action! The team SEISA Gakuen High School Shonan is aiming for the Action Award. Through the Shonan School's original "SDGs English Karuta," they target to increase the number of children who are interested in international social issues, and to enable everyone to experience a "world where learning is fun," even if they do not have access to a learning environment.

The finals will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:30. It will be held online. The Idea Award, Action Award, and Corporate Award will be selected from among the ten (10) selected teams. Please stay tuned!
