Yuma KAGIYAMA (Oriental Bio / SEISA), a senior student at SEISA Kokusai High School Yokohama, has been selected to represent Japan in the Figure Skating Team at the Beijing Olympics, and recently became the first Japanese athlete to win a bronze medal in a team competition.

On Thursday, February 10th, 2022, KAGIYAMA set a new personal best in the free skate. He won a silver medal in his first competition. It was the culmination of his high school career, and he performed magnificently. The Beijing Olympics had been one of his main goals. KAGIYAMA's last competition in high school will be at the 2022 World Figure Skating Championships in March.

Before entering SEISA, we had talked together that he would work hard to achieve his goal of the Beijing Olympics, and he has succeeded in realizing his dream, becoming a top skater who has impressed the world. With the backing of KAGIYAMA, students and staff of SEISA Kokusai High School Yokohama, as well as students, staff, parents and alumni across the country, were encouraged and inspired by his success.

Following the Short Program on Tuesday 8th, SEISA students from kindergartens, nursery schools, junior high schools, high schools and university students participated in the "online school-wide audience", connecting 43 school sites and homes, with approximately 4,200 students participating. Once again, Sakurako TANABE, a junior student and also a member of the figure skating team, gave a simultaneous live commentary, allowing the students to learn about figure skating and watch not only KAGIYAMA, but also HANYU, UNO and other skaters from around the world.

Every day at SEISA Kokusai High School Yokohama, where he enrolls, a diverse group of students gather and engage with each other. Many students and teachers have a special feeling that there is no gap between the KAGIYAMA they see at school and the one they see on TV, and the great success he has achieved. Learning to "play" sports, learning to "watch / see" sports and learning to "support" sports. Not just knowledge, but empathy. This is one of the most important ways of learning at SEISA.

We would like to express our gratitude to all those who supported us.

Thank you very much!!
